I can't find a file, how do I find a lost file in Windows XP?
Windows XP make finding misplaced files easy! If you have lost or misplaced a file in Windows XP follow these steps to
search your entire computer:

•        Click the START button in the lower left of your desktop (screen)
•        In the Start menu, click Search
•        In the search companion on the left side of the screen, click on the the type of file you are looking for (picture,
video, etc) or click all files and folders
•        Type in the name of the file, part of the name or a word or phrase that is contained in the file (type into the 'word
or phrase' box)
•        Click Search
Windows XP will search your entire PC for the file based on the information you typed into the search companion fields
and display the results on the right side of the search window. If you find the file, you can double-click to open it, or drag
it to your desktop so you don't lose it again.
If you still can't find your file, try expanding your search by adding, removing or changing information in the search
companion.
